Description
The Kaufeldt's built a log pioneer farm cabin and barn on property in the mountains just north of Griffith. Take the Hyland Creek Road which leads north west to the village of Quadeville.

In the 1960's a fire tower was erected on the high mountain (Jamieson's Mountain) behind their property to protect the local pine timber stands from forest fire. Mr. Kaufedlt was lucky to be awarded a position as towerman here. So everyday during fire season he would climb the mountain and the tower to do his lonely service for the forestry department. Luckily his loneliness would be curbed by the closeness to his family down the mountain.

The view from Jameison's Mountain is the best view in all of Ontario. The 2nd best view would be Willisville Mountain in the Lacloche Mountains (also shown on this site). Enjoy the photos!!
