A pair of crypts from the late nineteenth century tucked neatly back in the still active Newburgh United Church Cemetery.
The Stickneys owned an iron mill in town, the remains of which can still be seen adjacent to this crypt on private property.
The Hinch name does not come up with respect to the N Hinch named on the crypt, but there is a village named Hinch a little to the north of Newburgh. There is also reference to a burial on "the Hinch Farm" on Lot 21 of concession 1, but the Meacham Atlas, published many years later, lists the property as being owned by the Pauls.
The Meacham Atlas lists the Scotts as owners of the land where this cemetery currently sits.
I could find little on Alex Clancy except for the fact he owned a number of lots in the Third Concession north of Newburgh. There were some marriage records for an Alex Clancy from the mid-1880s but, given the date on the crypt, Mr. Clancy would had to have been quite a remarkable person to have achieved this. Of course my wife often claims she married the dead, so, who knows...

I am the nephew of Ogden and Jessie Hinch. I was a pallbearer for Ogden Hinch and was inside the Hinch crypt in 1989 when Odgen Hinch (Uncle Og) passed. My father Donald Karr Saul and Ferd Hartman had trouble opening the padlock, but after a lot of oiling, was able to unlock it prior to interment. It was a cold and cloudy day in late November / early December. I have to get proof, but crypt may have been built by William and Hugh Saul. There is mention from family history this may be the Situation. Jessie Hinch was daughter of David Karr Saul, who was son of William Saul of the partnership the "Saul Brothers" (Although they were both first cousins). I am the great grandson of William Saul. I have compiled a lot of Saul history. In a follow up to previous post, my Aunt, Jessie Hinch (to the best of my knowledge), was laid to rest in the Hinch crypt by her husband Odgen in spring 1995. I saw the inside of the crypt for a second and final time. I forgot to mention that Ferd Hartman was my uncle. He and Hope Hartman ran the Hartman's store in Camden East until they retired in the early 80s.
