Dartford, located originally in Percy Township (now Trent Hills), is a quaint hamlet tucked on a windy road in a river valley. It is not a ghost town, but I did find the original grist mill's wheel still intact and its mill stone. The mill wheel is actually made of steel. The mill pond is still dammed up and the spring flow was quite fast and high.
The map attached (circa 1878) shows where a sawmill was located on the other side of the river. But another map shows that the photos I took were of a grist mill. So I assume there must have been 2 mills here at one time.
If you like these kinds of villages I suggest taking a quick jog off the County Rd. 45 to see this place.
