This was once a very quaint village. It still is, but the old hotel is really looking weathered these days and certainly could use a facelift before its too late. People still live in it so stay out. They do use its backlot for parking.

"First settled in the 1830s and called Cooksookie. Named in 1854 after Queensborough on the River Boyne. Also Queensboro."

The sidewalks are in need of some sweeping and weeding. With a bit of tender loving care this village could be a toursim draw one day, due to its excellent river location and picturesque village street layout.

Municipality of Tweed and Town of Madoc- get it in gear!!! You both have a gem within your midst.

  • This village sits right on the boundary between both municipalities.

This town is quite vibrant and is a historic community, there are residence in the hotel and it has been restored significantly. This has been so long before this was posted in 2010. There will be a historic ghost walk here next spring for those interested in the town.
