La Butte Park, a once nice, lived in trailer park was closed down in 1998 do to badly contaminated water. Everyone left and or forced out, leaving everything behind. Many trailers were removed from the site, but most stayed there, left to rot alone. Most are complete, and still rather nice considering they(a)ve been empty for over a decade! Some others aren(a)t even enter-able (either roof caving in, or rotted floor).

The very last trailer, on your left, an old green trailer. Someone was living in it just a few years ago. The first time I drove in this campground. I didn(a)t make it all the way to the end because I noticed someone living in the last trailer. I returned for the first time in a few years last fall (2010) and no one was there anymore, and a Jeep that once was there, was gone. I entered the trailer, and it was scary as heck, as it looked "Fresh" it was very clean, nothing broken, all furniture was there, cloths, shoes, water bed full of water. I didn(a)t bring my camera at the time, and I regret it now, as on this return, that trailer had been turned upside down and badly vandalized!

I grew up in St. Albert just east of the village, and moved away from there in 1998, shortly after they closed the place down.

If visiting this site, I highly recommend wearing good shoes, and jeans. And be very careful when entering trailers! But it(a)s a great place to visit and hang out at the same time. We(a)ve been here 4 times already, but unfortunately everytime we come, the condition gets worst as vandals make their way there to.
