Demolished House in Markham, Ontario, Canada

This is the David Whaley house. The original house was built in 1835 as 1 1/2 story, 3 bay, Georgian framed cottage on a 200 acre lot. In the Cedar Grove community the Whaley family was well known. On the lower section of the property there was a sawmill and a millpond, which I believe the Simeon Reesor ran. Where the mill once stood is now a bridge{I(a)m certain it(a)s the steeles ave bridge}. Also to get to this house you have to cross a really sketchy bridge on the driveway of the property, it(a)s on the verge of collapse. After the house, a little further down the driveway there are two different old foundations. I believe one was possibly the old barn.

At one point there was another "house" on the property to the west. My mom use to rent that single floor summer home and attend parties at the white house pictured in this entry. This would have been from the mid 1980's. I will ask her for more history on the lot in the near future.

I'm sorry to say this house is now gone. Small pile of rubble. The bridge and well remain. Change status.

I think the blue thong note makes this place a fav. a ghost that makes girls horny? This would be a good place to bring a hot girl on a first date, lol.

Nice..looks like part of if was a converted church. Not sure where you see Simeon Sewell listed on the 1878 map, but this is clearly on the Simeon Reesor property. I made the change..
