This beautiful heritage-status house is located on Fiddler's Green Road. The house was constructed in 1860 by a Scottish settler who arrived in Canada in 1842. Between 1860 and 1984 the house had only two owners. (see details below)

Today the property is for sale at a cost of approximately $2,000,000 including an adjacent golf driving range. The farm land is currently used as a sod farm.

There is very little left inside the house other than old CD's, remote controls, school papers, a photo album and several envelopes of birthday cards from the early 2000's. The name on the envelops reads "Alexia" but I couldn't find even a single search result on the girl's full name.

There is some lovely construction inside the house, particularly the craftsmanship on the window trim and hand railings. Out in the barn is a Pontiac GTO. I didn't know the year of it (the license plate says 1973). The body is rusted, the seats and upholstery are completely trashed but perhaps with some bodywork and replacement parts this could be restored. There is also an antique sleigh being stored in the barn.

The barn is constructed with sheet metal, some of which is laying on the ground. When the wind blows the loose metal on the roof bangs against the barn - take extreme caution if you enter the barn.

This house was erected in 1860 by John "Squire" Russell, one of 12 Scottish settlers who arrived in 1842 and gave the area its name of "The Scotch Block". It remained in the Russell family until 1934 when it was sold to Reginald A. Christie, who lived here until his death in 1984. This well-preserved structure of red brick and buff quoins with flared lintels shows Neo-Classical and Georgian features, with its brackets, multi-pane transom and sidelights, 6/6 windows and shutters, eave return and barge board.

Motleykiwi Roversyndrome, you have an extra 10 photos you can add now, I'm curious to see what the house looks like now.

Unknown user I went back last week to see the damage, I took some photos but it won't allow me to upload anymore on here. The actual house part is pretty much destroyed minus a bit of the main floor, kitchen and garage. Looked like the fire started to come out the front door. This really upset me about this location... it was a very unique one!

Unknown user Also.. just wanted to add I conducted my own research. The family lost the house to the bank, they owned both the driving range and the farm. Not sure why they left photos, diplomas and everything else... I happened to find the family, recently, it took me forever. The mom is real estate agent, kids went to university, and sounds like the father got hurt, was unable to work and just spiraled from there.

Unknown user house is boarded up now with spray painted black boards on every possible entrance... someone has either stolen the car from the barn or removed it.. someone has been active there though.

electricfuneral There wasn't a car in the barn when I went. Odd to think that someone would even attempt to take that thing out of there, place was completely falling apart.

f.o.s. Very nice place, just wonder who is cutting the grass....maybe as superss suggests it is owned by the attached business visible on satellite view?

superss Gorgeous property, I'd still be a little concerned whether this is abandoned or not. I think the owners of the driving range are the owners of this property.
