Located at the junction of County Road 30 and Highway 401 (Exit 509), Wade's Corners dates from the mid -1800s as a community within what was then the Township of Brighton.

In the 1960s, two service centres were built near the 401 off-ramp. On the southwest corner of the CR30 and 401 junction, was a BP (later PetroCan) station together with a restaurant called The Highlander. According to locals, it was demolished in the 1990s and all that remains are portions of the parking lot.

On the southest corner of the 401 and CR30, there was a Shell station and a small restaurant (a CoffeeTime at one point). They closed around 2004 and although the gas station was removed, the building housing the restaurant is still there. It appears that it had a patio and a drive-thru. The restuarant is well boarded up and the interior cannot be seen. A door in what appears to be the drive-thru area is in disrepair but I did not try to get inside.

Survey markers have recently appeared around the restaurant and local say the intersection south of the 401 is to be re-aligned. I don't know if this will result in the bulldozing of the restaurant.
