This school was erected in 1964 and named after Canada's 5th Prime Minister Sir MacKenzie Bowell (December 21, 1894 ? April 27, 1896). It taught grades 6 through 8. In 2009 after careful consideration it was decided to close Sir MacKenzie due to the state of disrepair the school had fallen into, it was cheaper to shut the school down rather than pay the millions it would have taken to restore it. The school officially closed it's doors in 2011 and the children who attended the school were sent to either Sir John A. Macdonald or Prince Charles (To renovate both schools was half the cost it would have been to renovate Sir MacKenzie Bowell). Shortly after the school closed it was sold to a developer that had stated he planned to either demolish for condos in the area or turn the school into residential space. So far it's just sat to decay further with no plans to move forward with the project of development and nothing has been mentioned since the property was sold in 2012.

anyone planning on attempting a visit here be extremely cautious of the houses and apartment building nearby. the apartments have a CLEAR view of almost the whole building, and neighbours keep an eye on this one. can't even count the number of people i know that have gotten caught by police here
