St. Joseph Catholic Church was opened in 1869 in Fergus at 420 St.George Street. (the church was actually established in 1854, but such buildings took some time in those days, too). It was constructed on the highest point of land overlooking the town. The capacity of this church is only 150. The current new church on St. David Street which opened on Sept. 11, 2011 holds 550. Could not find an exact date of when this church closed, but I believe it was sometime in 2010. I was only able to get interiors through the windows. Maybe I'll email the Parishioner for a tour. It currently sits For Sale, and clearly needs some structural repairs. Some major cracks in the foundation and chunks of concrete have fallen off. It will likely be turned into some sort of community building, business or possibly a residence. A residence for ghost's maybe. Some friend's tell me it's apparently haunted. Hmm... a haunted church. Guaranteed it will never be demolished as it is such a huge piece of Fergus' heritage.

Can I get an 'Amen'!! :)

Nice place, what is the exterior painted concrete or a parging over concrete?
