Opened in 1884, St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church saw its last mass celebrated on the 28th of September, 2014 when parishioners joined with their similarly named friends in nearby Cobden. This, the second church on the site, replaced the one built 29 years earlier when local Kerr Line farmers and their pastor from Lichfield, Quebec decides a place of worship and a cemetery were needed.
The adjacent cemetery holds the remains of the Kerr family for which this area was named.
it is obvious the building was well-tended and many improvements were carried out throughout the years. It was also obvious on close inspection that the stonework was starting to fail.
The attached article has many stories of parishioners, their church and their faith and retells these much better than I ever could.
