I drive by everyday, work in the area. I've been wanting to stop everyday but one thing led to another and just drove by. Looks like the land was zoned to build condos. So the corner store and the house should be demolished soon. The door on the house is boarded up, although was open for the last few days. I see someone did put the plywood back on the door. It's a 3 story home, late 1800's or early 1900's. Nice big house. If someone has information on this, please share it. I will stop by today to take pictures.

Through the 1960's and 70's, this was Shouldice's General Store.

According to a recently published book about the history of Woodroffe (that was the old name for that neighbourhood), that building was built in 1915 and was always a corner store.

That is a VERY busy spot. I went today at lunch time (4PM) and there was no one in sight. There is never a time that it's not busy. I work just down the street.

Can't post long comments? If I had a high-vis vest and hard hat, I could probably just waltz through the front during the weekday. But me standing around with my 70-200mm lens with sun shade on it, I think everyone around noticed me today. Snapped some exterior shots through the fence, into the store, and around the demo. Might try to get in on the weekend, if it's still standing.

I just went by, no workers in sight (after 3-4pm)...and so many POE's. Only issue is that Richmond/Woodroffe is really busy during the week, the last time i went by the store on the bus it was on the long weekend so it was fairly quiet.

Yes the store is still there. Too bad for the house because it was a victorian style home, VERy nice house. I've been putting it off every day to take the pictures. At one point, the door was wide open on the house. Workers are there every day, could be a problem trying to get in the store.

Uhm...the corner store is still there and the door is wide open. The fence doesn't even go all the way around it just stops at the treeline. lol. I'll try to snag some exterior photos, but the place is coming down soon so I don't know if there's much point.
