Demolished House in Pickering, Ontario, Canada

This beautiful stone house was owned by Thomas Redman in 1877. No doubt it was built much earlier. Redman owned this 50 acre lot on the sixth concession as well as another 50 acre lot directly across the road on which he built a house as well. By 1895, the lot across the road had been sold to William Sadler, and the property was now in the hands of his wife Susan Redman.

A beautiful property, it has not yet been ravaged by vandals. Hopefully there are plans to relocate this gorgeous structure.

The 407 was an abomination to the historical buildings in the areas affected. It still stuns me that our government decided demolishing over 200 homes (at least 30 or more being historically designated) was worth building a new highway and making the taxpayers foot the bill.

That was a great house. Shame they tore it down. Was demolished to make way for a 407 on ramp.

Was here today. Vandals sure have smashed a lot, but the back 3 buildings are still sealed up. What a beautiful place. The house across and up the way is now boarded up too.
