The "Islamic Association of K-W" purchased an 11 acre plot of farmland on the outskirts of Kitchener in 1998 with high aspirations of building the "Largest Islamic centre in Canada". However, securing funding was tough and no action was taken until 2005 when the city issued a building permit for a "Multi-Purpose Recreational Facility". Seemingly little action took place from then on, until a permit for plumbing was added in 2007.
It appears as though the building has sat vacant since then, despite a 2016 news article stating that over $2M in donations had been secured and progress was to begin shortly, with the building expected to be complete and active within a few years. Well, it's now 2019 and the building is still a concrete shell. The ceiling is leaking, there's no flooring anywhere to be found, a collection of a couple dozen toilets, light fixtures and HVAC components lay vandalized and rusting away inside.

Was there on Monday, April 3rd, 2023. Had a POE and I am pretty sure had someone in it. Not sure what they were doing didn't investigate too far. Will go back to take pictures for an album.

I went there today I looked inside but there wasn’t much I walked around the building then I saw someone doing work on the building I didn’t stay much longer

I was here a month ago and saw some cars parked outside and like 6 or 7 guys just hanging out, looked kinda sketch so I left without taking a good look.
Visited this place about a month ago. I've heard an upstairs mentioned a few times, but couldn't seem to find any access. Maybe it was removed?
I legit finished the ladder so I could climb up 2 years ago.
Stopped by here a few days ago, really empty place with lost of graffiti, very cool aesthetic and some admittedly talented vandals. Seems like a really popular spot, two guys stopped by to practice boxing each other on the second floor. There is however an apparent "drunkard" that sleeps there at night. Two of my friends went to check it out at night and when they entered they heard loud stomping coming from the second floor and noped out of there pretty fast.

Stopped by today but didnt go in. It appears most the doors are boarded, however, the main front door appears to have had a board ripped off as it appeard cockeyed. I was at quite a distance tho.
good find what tipped you off that it might e vacant? only the roof shows.

FYI someone else brought up in the Discord that this location seems to be under active construction again. The main PoE that was used for (at least) all of 2023 is now boarded up and there is a new trailer on-site, as well as typically vehicles parked overnight and some lights that actually work on the outside of the building that face the road. It seemingly started back up again sometime between May 2023 & Dec. 2023
