This pioneer cemetery is abandoned but cared for as much as he can, by the present[2018] owner living in front of it. This cemetery is beside the Iron Creek golf course. This location had eluded me for some time and looks to be mostly the Stokes family are left on top. Headstones and unfortunately graves have been falling into the creek below for years, and that needs attention. The owner built the only Cairn from the headstones that were left. He actually visited several pioneer cemeteries to get an idea for this cairn and a great job it is. It looks like the cemetery extends further into the trees on Google* Map view, but I wasn't told of anything else that was back there. There is a headstone here of a William Stokes who was Mayor of St. Thomas from 1928-1929 which New Sarum was a part of that jurisdiction. Erosion is the biggest hazard here. There has to be a ten foot right of way between the golf course and the first house to this cemetery or any other secluded pioneer cemetery.
