The Old Muskoka Colonization Rd. of the 1800s became Hwy. 11. The highway followed the original alignment almost exactly. However, there is one original spot where the highway diverted. This location can be seen while heading a few kms north of Severn Bridge on the east side where the old road crosses over the S. Kahshe River at the old Christie property. The old bridge still stands as does the old home..I wonder if it was an inn/gas station in the 1930s. Many of you will recognize this classic spot.

The location of the bridge is not verified to be an exact location of the Muskoka Road of 1858 although it is the location of the Ferguson Highway of the 1920s that included reconstruction of the Muskoka Road in various sections.
