A local bar and restaurant that closed in 2009. Im not to sure why it closed, the restaurant moved down the road. The owners have left most of the stuff they had there. upstairs had some old dingy bar motel rooms. The kitchen and dinning areas have been left almost exactly as they had. We found an old photograph of North Bay while in the building along with some records from the beetles members and bob marly. The place is hardly broken in to, only one point of entry, bit of a pain to get at, but worth it. It looks like there was a fire in its ventilation system on the roof. They've left a room full of boxes with what I think are business records and receipts, they've also left all their order forms and books ending sometime in 2009. Im not posting the exact location but its right on the main drag of lakeshore drive if your looking for it.
"One of North Bay's most historic restaurants has been demolished.
Last know as Zorba's, the building on Lakeshore Drive is best known to long-time city residents as "The Golden Dragon".
During its heyday in the 50's, 60's and 70's it became a "place to go" for meals and entertainment, hosting galas as well as family gatherings.
The building fell on hard times in recent years. It finally became a pool-hall with Zorba's restaurant next door.
A worker on-site expects it will be a week before the grand old lady of Lakeshore is totally demolished." - Jeff Turl on baytoday.ca
