A few headstones in front of the New Credit United Church. It looks like two Indian Chiefs are buried here of the New Credit Band .These are badly weathered headstones. This 5,000 acres of land was a kind of thank you for the land "purchased"[taken] in 1784. One Chief lies here[ see link with picture] says : Nawahjegezhegwabe (1786-1863), baptised Joseph Sawyer, was head chief of the Credit band (Mississauga tribe) from 1829 until his death. In 1847 the band left the Credit River to settle in Tuscarora Township, Brant County.
