While we were out looking for any remnants of that bad tire fire years ago we found this Pioneer Cemetery at a T intersection just screaming for a traffic circle. The earliest headstone that is readable is James Smith 55 years old, 1858. There are mainly The Ryan and Smith family plots here. The newest graves are both from 1883, Henry Thompson and Janet Smith. Headstones gathered here at this location. A nice quiet corner overlooking farmland to spend eternity. There are approx. 12 graves here. Townsend, looks like it was called Townsend Centre in 1880. On the 1880 map it shows two cemeteries approx. here, so hopefully these two small cemeteries were merged.
