The John Leary House has a history that goes back to 1875. Of course what(a)s standing currently on this property is the original house plus several additions that were built afterwards. This place is huge for an abandonment and sadly the vandalizing has begun. Every picture I(a)ve seen of this place all the doors were closed and no windows were broken. When I arrived that wasn(a)t the case - doors were kicked open, screens torn and windows smashed.

Amazingly the interior is in good condition. It(a)s not cluttered with junk like most other farmhouse abandonments.

There(a)s a sign out front on the fence surrounding this property for a land re-zoning proposal, meaning, the house will probably be torn down to make way for yet another subdivision to increase the population of the area even more. A complete shame considering at this point the house could be fully restored and lived in.

I'm thinking the wall caved in with a little assistance from some one. Perhaps the developers that own the land and can't do anything with it until this house is considered unsafe for habitat and restoration as it's protected on the heritage list of the city... Or maybe even the local rug rats contributed to the damage while they were running around spray painting the crap out of the place.

I can't even believe I ventured as far as I did in here. If you look at the back of the house, the foundation has completely caved in. Scary, but I made it out alive! Go me!
