This little house on the hill is barley visible from the road, and is almost a 10 minute walk from the road up to the house. Marked on the Canadian Country atlas under the name of Edward Coltham, Circa 1878. I recently went in to the Stouffville town hall, and checked the property owners. Its owned by a company, and listed under 3 people with the same last name. Tried to lookup the company, but there isnt anything on the net about them.
Along with the house, there is a silo, remains of a barn, shed, and another small shed. The property seems to have been abandoned for a few decades or so, assuming from the rot and decay of the structures. The location has been kept secret to preserve whats left, And keep people safe. The house has a few hidden holes in the floors from old heating ducts, and are big enough to get hurt from. Same with the (remains of the) barn. And above all else, if you do visit this place, DO NOT take your car past the gate. I cant explain it, but the place is like car-cursed or something. you get stuck, break down, or something where your car ends up on the hook-end of a towtruck.
Update: Another interesting find made today (7/10/12). Despite how many times I visit this place, I'm.always fining a new treat. What might be a concrete pad (approx '50 x '50) found in the high field north of the barn wreckage. About 98% of this is buried under as much as a foot of dirt, or mostly 5 to 6 inches, minus about 30 square feet exposed at the north east corner. My sensus can't get over the fact somethings weird here...
May not be abandoned much longer, as they have been keeping an updated appraisal value on the land. (Its currently at $450,000 some-odd dollars for 87 acres) A developers dream.

Interesting write up. I visited this location yesterday and I actually found the drive up the giant, bumpy, curvy hill more exciting then the house itself. Everything is falling apart and it's hard to tell what's vandalism and what's just pure decay.
I went to check this place out today. It's almost too far gone for me to even consider taking my camera out but I tried any way. I drove straight up to the house and while the drive-way was rough in spots I made it all the way up and back out again without any instances of breaking down. I figured I would give it a shot, there was no way my day could possibly have gotten worse!
The steep high peaked central dormer with a "suicide door" on the second floor are common on 100 year old houses here. This one has two! I've never seen one with a fancy arched top door before.

An interesting place. But I agree with you Don, the house where I am that has been abandoned for some 26 years is in much better shape lol.
Yes there are a lot of places off the beaten path, but usually that's what keeps them from being destroyed. I like the picture of the chair in the doorway (Derelict 358) - I've seen a few abandoned houses with one or two bits of furniture inside and I always wonder about people who pack up and abandon a house and leave that one piece of furniture behind. It's almost like a memorial, to show
this one sure was. Im actually gonna try and find the owner of the place, and see if they know any history. its just weird, cuz its such a nice property, and could be again with a few nails, drywall, an ass-load of paint, and a few light bulbs. (oh, maybe a little garden outside the kitchen, lol)

I suspect that a squatter has been staying here. There is a brand new tent out back and what looks like a well used campsite. That and the fact that someone yelled "Hey!" at me from inside the house on approach. I didn't stick around to find out.
