Erie Beach Prak was founded in 1880s by Benjamin and Edward Baxter and W.B. Pierce . It started out as a picnic area then expanded into a Amusement Park . It was first called Snake Hill Grove. Beside catering to Canadians they advertised to Buffalo N.Y. as a way to get away from the city. A railway service started in 1887 known as the Sandfly Express .The park featured rides like a figure 8 Roller coaster Carousel called flying pony and Ferrice Wheel . They also built the Worlds larges Swimming Pool . In 1910 the year saw the building of a three story Casino that included a Bath House , Bowling Alley Resterants and a Dance Hall .Also 3,500 seat Stadium was built . In 1929 Erie Park was hit hard by the Depression and its last day was the following year Labour Day 1930. (Note...You can still see the Roller Coaster in 1934 view on Goggle Earth)

My grandfather worked there as a security guard from 1928. He lived in a house on west side of the park and moved to the east side after the park closed. I've been there in the 50s and 60s and did all that.

I managed to get out by climbing up to the support beams and shimmying across. I jumped down inside the old pumphouse in #13 and #14 once and couldn't get back out!
