The town of Eldorado itself is not abandoned, but there are buildings within the town on the main street that remain uninhabited/unoccupied. These buildings include the old Cheese Factory that closed in 1991, and an old two-story house across from the historical plaque. The plaque tells the stroy of how the town came about, the gold that was found and the town that popped up around it. However instead of a vein of gold where gold rushers would have prospered, it turned out to be only small deposits so the mine went bust.
The factory itself seems to be occupied occasionally by construction workers, but the house is boarded up except for a small opening in the bars to a basement window on the left side of the house.
A couple other buildings throughout the town have historical significance but they are occupied.
