This is one of my favourite places to go.
Right outside the quaint little town of Coldwater there is a set of train tracks and many trails used by many fourwheelers etc. This place is not well known by most of my friends from that area... but the first time I went there I knew it would be a regular thing.
There is large quarry surrounded by tall walls of stone that have been blasted years ago. there are piles of shingles in various places throughout the pit. various foundations and old wells. It is quite flooded in the spring, even for rubber boots, but I didn't care... it's too amazing to not get a little dirty. If you keep walking there is a random boat covered in graffiti. And if you relly explore the property you can find some more ruins that have turned themselves into a waterfall in the spring when it is flooded. unfortunately, I didn't have my camera for my first visit which was in the spring when there is this waterfall happening so I don't have pictures of that. Next spring I'll be sure to get some!
There is tons of broken glass from kids partying there so I usually bring a garbage bag and pick up what I can during my visits.
Also, during one of my visits I had the pleasure of seeing a HUGE snapping turtle and dancing with at least 10 butterflies at once on the trail.
I would not suggest going in the winter as I'm sure it would be dangerous and most of the foundations would be snow covered.
