Winterhaven

Nordic is an abandoned ski hill found in the Sudbury area. It is one of those places that you can only try to recreate in your mind. As you walk around you might imagine what it was like when people used to ski here, how people laughed and warmed themselves up with a cup of hot chocolate.

The main grounds consist of young tree growth where the parking lot would have been. You'll first notice the age of the ski hill by the smashed old-style lights which hang from poles. Electrical wires fall into the grass or have been cut.

If you look carefully into the bush before you begin to climb the mountain (left), you'll find the electrical room in the forest. Not far from the electrical room on the opposite side of the trail (right) is a capped well which probably supplied water to the rest area.

As you make your way up the well worn ski path, you'll notice a string of lights on the right that make their way up the mountain. To the left of the path are the ski lift support poles. Some of the poles have been bent to the point that they are almost touching the ground.
