In 1846, D. Holliday Senior settled in Whitby Township, just southeast of the village of Brooklin. He built a beautiful 1 1/2 vernacular stone house on lot 20, as well as a barn. Holliday farmed here until his death.

The stone house is now boarded up, with its fate uncertain. Booming expansion to the west threatens the house. Hopefully there are plans to move or preserve the home.

This is very cool... I drive by this place all the time and would love to see inside it and photograph it before it is gone (probably by 407 construction which may not be too far away...)

This was my Grandmothers farm where she grew up. Laurel Holliday. A friend's uncle was living there up until 2 years ago when the 407 expansion caused an appropriation issue. To the right of the house is a green barn/shed which for the last few years was a recording studio and jam space that some of the biggest Canadian and international musicians hung out in. I think it was called the Blue Fox.
