Demolished House in Kawartha Lakes, Ontario, Canada

Location # 1904

This is a family farm abandoned after, most likely, the death of the patriarch. The "new" house was likely built at the turn of the 20th century with the addition at the back being done much later- you can also see the charred foundations of the original homestead a stone(a)s throw away. This house had a glassed in sunroom with a fireplace that is now open to the elements, and much of the interior contents remain intact. This is in pristine condition, with enough care having been taken inside to indicate that someday, someone might return to clean it up, maybe. There is no vandalism and no wanton destruction. The nature of the items left behind gave the place a sadness as these things clearly meant a great deal to the inhabitants once upon a time. Check out the tractor and farm implements, the hand-made series of high chairs for long grown children, and the collie painting. If you want to see it for yourself, please contact Clay70 for directions. This site is worth preserving as long as possible.

This is probably the Staples(a) property with the home being built in 1900. It was actually part of the original post office community of Oak Hill (also on here).

I drive this road almost every weekend and am fairly certain that this place was demolished in 2013 and a new house already stands in its place. Will confirm next weekend.
