Based on a tip earlier in the day from Ground State that a POE was available at this unexplored location, I headed out to Grimsby.

Planet Night Club is situated between two hotels in Grimsby which should have provided an ideal location for younger hotel guests to party except that there has never been a single club patron enter the doors.

Construction stopped approximately seven years ago. I read on Youtube that the reason was the owner ran out of funds.

Wires are sticking out of the wall where lights should be, light switches either have uncovered switches (some working) or unconnected wires (not good when you're running your hand along the wall in the dark). The HVAC tubing is hanging from the ceiling. Workers tools, ladders and a scissor lift have been left behind. In the back office you'll find more worker's tools and some computer hardware such as a monitor and scanner.

The bar area is impressive. The countertop is made of 60 feet of granite, the ceiling is stainless steel and a large part of the walls appear to have marble tile.

When I first walked into the building I thought I'd heard someone inside but it was the sound of pigeons in the upper viewing area. When I walked upstairs I scared them and one of the pigeons flew into a window. He flopped around the ground, making his way downstairs and into the washroom. I don't know what became of it.

I didn't think there was anything in the basement of interest and almost left without exploring it. I descending the dark stairway, found a working light switch and discovered that there was a banquet area. The lights didn't work in the basement but it appeared that there was black mold on the far wall. There was also spray paint graffiti throughout the basement level. There was no graffiti on the main floor.

The property has broken glass in the side doors and rear windows. The tug of war between owners and youths has been ongoing. When I visited, the realtor's sign indicated the property had been "SOLD". This property shouldn't go to waste.

Cool site, strange that it could exist so long without being completely trashed.

That is one helluva bar. Looks like the owner had pride... this is a high quality project better than any other nightclub around. Of course, this is coming from a guy who hung out at Fever for their industrial Monday nights and walked off with a concrete statue of a demon when they closed.
