15 km south of Dawn Mills, stood the town of Northwood. Northwood was originally named Louisville Siding after a nearby community.
It was just many of towns that were built near the railway to allow lumber to be cut, brought to a mill and shipped out by rail. A church, store, hotels and many homes were built. After the lumber was depleted, farm produce was shipped out. The area still remains a very extensive farming community. Today the main street is a residential lane and the railway station has been demolished.
