Q:
What is the difference between a Basic Member and a Full Member?
A: Basic Members are people who have signed up but not contributed
to the website. Basic members are restricted to Public locations only. Private
locations are for Full Members and do not show up in keyword searches, Google
searches or proximity searches. This means that Full Members can see places
than Basic Members cannot.
If you click on HERE you can see how many locations are only for Full Members.
Full Members are people who have been recognized as having
made a contribution to the website. This is not necessarily financial in nature
(as trust is not something you can purchase). The easiest
way to full membership is by creating locations of places that you've explored.
It's really not a lot to ask when you consider that sites such as Facebook and
Flickr are already full of exploration photos. Once you've demonstrated that
you are serious about exploring and taking photos, you may just receive it.
Full members have access to ALL locations.
Locations
Q: What qualifies as a location?
A: A ghost town (any place that lost it's main industry and fell off the map),
abandoned buildings, farm houses, abandoned industrial sites or even old houses.
Q: What happens to my photos after I upload them?
A: You retain the copyright and are able to delete them at any time. You may
also add a watermark to the photos containing your name, email address, website,
etc. You are the only person able to edit the information on the location so
try to be as accurate as possible.
Q: Can I delete my photos or location?
A: You can delete your photos at any time but the location can only be removed
by the administrator.
Q: How does the search option work?
A: The search option works by calculating the latitude and longitude of the
location versus the latitude and longitude of the city you are searching from.
It is calculated "as the crow flies" which means that it does not
take into account winding roads, etc.
Q: May I use the photographs found on this website?
A: Not without asking the permission of the person who generated that location.
There is an option to contact the creator of a location at the top of the page.
Q: What is a Geocache? Why would I want to search for one?
A: A Geocache is like a hidden treasure chest. People who own GPS's use them
to find these hidden treasures as well as hide their own for others to find.
This option allows visitors to find local geocaches close by locations.
